LAUNCH OF NEW INFINITI CENTRE STOCKPORT A ‘WORK OF ART’

• 250 guests expected at official launch of Infiniti Centre Stockport on Thursday.

Stockport, UK (11 October, 2011) – The 250 guests who will be attending this week’s official opening of the

new retail outlet of Infiniti, the luxury performance automotive brand from Japan, on Bailey Road in Stockport, will literally be greeted by a ‘work of art’.

The bespoke boutique-hotel-style Infiniti Centre Stockport, which is set to be officially unveiled on 13 October, will be welcoming visitors not only with a stunning display of the latest range of high performance vehicles, but will equally be treating VIPs to the works of the six finalists submitted during the ‘Inspired Performance’ theme of the recently-launched Infiniti Digital Art Competition, the world’s first free-to-enter international digital art contest.

The masterpieces on show for the very first time have been hand-selected by a highly distinguished panel of experts including Birgit Lohmann, Editor-in-Chief, and Co-Founder of the online art, architecture and design magazine designboom, and Adrian Newey, Chief Technical Officer of the Red Bull Racing Formula One team. Over 500 registrations were recorded in just a three-month period by participants of all ages and talents from across the globe.

During the invitation-only evening, the exquisitely crafted ‘Value Added’ monument by artists Jan Ziska and Juraj Rattaj from Slovakia will greet guests on arrival, which will be complemented by the ‘Synthesised by Nature’ sculpture created by English artist, Jackson Tayler, a dynamic creation inspired by nature. Within the Centre itself, the work of Shinji Nukumi of Japan, entitled ‘Infiniti Passion’, a design which expresses the potential of Infiniti cars from the inside rather than from the outside, will be projected on to the flowing curves of the Infiniti G37 Coupé model. Visitors will equally be treated to a series of digital video animations providing

an overview to the art of the six finalists. All guests present at the launch party will be eligible to vote for their favourite piece of digital art presented on the night.

The exclusive preview of the artworks will be followed by a free art gallery at Infiniti Centre Stockport (open from Friday 14 to Tuesday 18 October), where any member of the public is able to vote for their

favourite piece. The exhibition is scheduled to visit some of the most culturally-revered destinations in Europe during the next three months where it will form the centrepiece of forthcoming Centre openings. All votes cast will be aggregated to crown the winner of the first theme who will receive a prize fund worth €10,000 (around £8,700).
